I am a graduate student at the University of Tokyo. Could I apply for UTokyo Global FFDP while on a leave of absence?
Yes, you can. You can also receive the certificate if you complete the program with a certain level of marks. However, you will not receive the academic credits (two credits) for the course, because you cannot register for a course during a leave of absence.

I am a student at another university (or institute of higher education). Could I participate in UTokyo Global FFDP?
We accept a few participants as “observers” from other universities (graduate students, postdocs, researchers, and faculty/staff members). Please note that official certificates will not be issued to observers.

Am I sure to receive a certificate if I attend all sessions of UTokyo Global FFDP?
In order to receive a certificate of completion, you are required to achieve the prescribed grades as mentioned in the syllabus.

What is the schedule for the program?
In principle, UTokyo Global FFDP is held once a year: in S Semester. One course consists of eight classes (plus, DAY 0 briefing session), each with two consecutive periods (13:00-16:40). Please refer to the syllabus for further details.

What is the language of instruction?
This program is provided entirely in English. Participants are expected to have enough English language skills to actively participate and discuss in class, and to elaborate both written and oral assignments.
